One is "Walking A Mile: A First Step Toward Mutual Understanding," conducted by Public Agenda. The other is a national survey conducted by Public Opinion Strategies for the National Congress of American Indians (NCAI).

UPDATE 12/16/10

On Dec. 15, Seattle Mayor Mike McGinn announced his proposal for future uses of Seattle Center--including a new and expanded home for KEXP in the Northwest Rooms.

The move is an opportunity to transform the music station into a music center that will allow people to experience hundreds of live music performances each year at no charge. It is seen as a win not only for the internationally-renowned radio station and the Seattle Center campus, but also for the bustling Lower Queen Anne community.

I recently attended a lecture given by Eric Liu, former deputy domestic policy advisor for President Bill Clinton. Liu spoke to civics in Seattle, explaining the type of thinking that threads through the people of my city. He called it “ecosystem thinking,” a notion that we are all connected, an awareness of the environment around us. He embodied this type of thinking with the “garden brain.”

Over the past few years, green building has pushed its way into the national consciousness, representing a rare bright spot in an otherwise dim real estate sector. In fact, a study by Booz Allen Hamilton conducted for the US Green Building Council (USGBC) in November 2009 predicts the green building sector will support or create 7.9 million jobs and contribute $554 billion to the U.S. GDP between 2009 and 2013.
