On course
Under the new leadership of superintendent Maria Goodloe-Johnson, Seattle Public Schools (SPS) embarked on a strategic plan aimed at ensuring improved schools district-wide. For support in developing the plan, SPS turned to Pyramid.
As SPS’ partner, Pyramid sought to communicate about the district’s changes in a way that encouraged community engagement in the future of Seattle’s schools. We helped guide SPS through the planning process with a host of services—including research, message development and outreach—designed to maximize the community’s involvement in and understanding of the district’s plans.
Our work got results: by the time the “Excellence for All” plan was unveiled in summer 2008, more than 3,000 people had been engaged in the process, including participants across nine language groups. A total of 1,385 staff (28 percent) participated in a survey Pyramid conducted, generating more than 6,000 responses.
