A museum for all
Seattle Art Museum’s (SAM) multi-year expansion included three major capital projects totaling $180 million. Seeking to build a broad base of lasting support, SAM partnered with Pyramid to conduct a community campaign that educated the public about the museum’s transformation and encouraged support for its capital projects throughout the city’s diverse communities. We helped create a tangible sense of community ownership and pride in the museum and, by developing a new website, gave people an easy way to contribute to and interact with the campaign.
The I AM SAM campaign website, designed by Pyramid, created excitement and delivered audiences and donors from groundbreaking through the grand opening of both the Olympic Sculpture Park and the new downtown SAM facility. In one month the website received 5,000 visitors. More than 700 community members and government, cultural and civic leaders attended the Olympic Sculpture Park groundbreaking and more than 3,500 people attended a construction kick-off event, Party in the Park. In the first year of operations alone, more than 750,000 people visited the Olympic Sculpture Park.
