Playing fair
Until 2007, insurance providers in Washington state routinely denied or delayed payment of legitimate claims to thousands of consumers. By making such unfair practices against the law, Referendum 67 aimed to help protect insurance consumers against dishonest providers.
Pyramid supported the Approve 67 campaign with powerful media outreach across the state and helped develop the campaign website. With our help, Referendum 67 was endorsed by Gov. Chris Gregoire, Insurance Commissioner Mike Kreidler, firefighters and more than 80 organizations across the state of Washington.
In the media, Referendum 67 was endorsed by The Seattle Post-Intelligencer, The Columbian, Tri-City Herald, The Herald (Everett) and The Olympian. CNN also featured an investigative news story on how the insurance industry has unfairly treated Washington consumers.
On November 6, 2007, Referendum 67 passed, marking a major step toward greater fairness and integrity in the insurance industry.
