Rapid response

International Aerospace Machinists District 751

International Aerospace Machinists District Lodge 751 contracted with Pyramid Communications to provide ongoing consulting to the bargaining unit (including Machinists in Washington, Oregon and Kansas) that negotiated the largest aerospace contract in the nation with Boeing. Between 1999 and 2001, Pyramid provided strategic advice during contract negotiations and helped the Machinists effectively respond to the threatened closure of Boeing’s Auburn fabrication plant. During these and other situations, Pyramid stepped in to raise the profile of the Machinists in the Puget Sound area by producing paid radio spots and maintaining a solid relationship with the media, leading to positive earned media placements and continued community support. Pyramid’s ability to put together and implement a crisis communications plan gave the Machinists a distinct edge.

As a result of Pyramid’s consultation, the Machinists now enjoy what has been called the best contract in aerospace. In addition, the threatened closure of Boeing’s Auburn plant was averted.
